Why do you need an invoice system, and more particularly, why Onyx? Whilst receiving monies for a job well done is the main reason for running a business, finding the time to create invoices, chase payments, monitor accounts all takes valuable hours out of the day, and if neglected can lead to a business failing.

What you need is an invoicing system that can at least keep this 'dead' time to a minimum, and this is where Onyx Invoicing System comes in.

But why choose Onyx? Creating invoices could almost be called a necessary evil, but if you have to do it (and let's be honest, you do) then why not get a professionally designed and delivered system that can not only do all of the 'grunt' work but also increase your potential to earn? A fancy claim? We think with Onyx this is a reality, and here's why:

'Buy cheap, buy twice,' a saying that most of us can relate to, and a philosophy that was kept in mind during the design of Onyx. We could have chosen a free database (Access for example) but we invested in an enterprise level one that is easily able to store millions of records, way more than necessary, but with this sort of capability we will never stretch the database's capacity and we can also have true multi user capability. We could have designed it in a language much easier to code in that C++ (the industry standard for many years now) but we wanted to have the utmost control of what happens under the hood and also to ensure that the language we used would not disappear in the next few years at the whim of some other company. We could have added loads of 'eye candy' in the GUI (graphical user interface - the screens etc) but we opted for a simple (though still visually appealing) design that does not distract from what you are doing. In short, we have not scrimped, and nor should you, but you shouldn't pay over the odds either!

So you can be sure that Onyx will stand up to anything you throw at it, but this is pretty standard stuff that all good systems should have designed into them, what's so good about Onyx?

We didn't stop at just investing in a cracking database, or arguably the most powerful coding language, we have also added many features to allow you to use YOUR data. You have to enter data to create invoices, so once it's in there, why not use it to your advantage. We have a well documented report designer that will allow you to create your own reports/printouts to cover anything that you can imagine (well as long as it is technically possible but most things are), it also allows you to alter the included printouts so if you don't like our designs, just create your own. We have just added a new facility allowing you to search for data within Onyx in a simple but effective way - this new feature allows you to (for example) search for all invoices that totalled more than £100, that was created in the last three months, that have been paid, where the customer is not a company and then to send a mail shot (the text of which you can easily modify) to each one of them. This means you can keep customers informed of special offers and promotions. You can now even send all (or just a few) of your customers emails detailing special offers or promotions, the system is fully rule based so you can be sure you won't be sending email to customers that don't want to receive it.

And whilst it is true that Onyx is a new system to the market, you can be sure of our intention to make it the 'best in class.' Onyx has been available for purchase for well over a year now during which time we have added numerous new features and improvements, listened to feedback and reacted where appropriate, and we will continue to do so. Add to this that Jewelsoft's chief programmer has written several other systems (including three used by a major employer in the Hull area that are used daily, one of which is responsible for the financial well being of several thousand individuals and companies) and you can rest assured that we know that your investment in Onyx does not end at the purchase price!
